China Open: Doubles joy for Malaysia albeit early exit for Zii Jia, Jin Wei

It was a good day for four Malaysian doubles’ pairs who posted impressive wins to check into the China Open second round on Tuesday, but it was a day to forget for Lee Zii Jia.
The first of the quartet were national mixed doubles duo Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, who continued their good form with a 21-15, 21-16 success over Indian pair Rohan Kapoor-Reddy Sikki.
The world number 11 pair next face South Korea’s Kim Won-ho-Jeong Na-eun in the second round on Thursday.
Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, meanwhile, recovered four game points in the second game to see off South Koreans Choi Sol-gyu-Kim Won-ho 21-10, 25-23 in a quickfire 35-minute victory.

Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi were also impressive in their 21-16, 23-21 victory over China's Ren Xiang Yu-Tan Qiang, setting them up against Denmark's Rasmus Kjaer-Frederik Sogaard.
In the women's doubles, Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien came through with a 12-21, 21-11, 22-20 win against Japan's Rui Hirokami-Yuna Kato to book a meeting with second seeds Baek Ha-na-Lee Soo-hee.
For Zii Jia, it was a first-round exit following his 24-26, 21-12, 11-21 defeat against Kodai Naraoka.
It was a host of unforced errors in the deciding game that ultimately cost Lee the match against the World Championships runner-up.
After doing well to win the second game to level matters, the Malaysian had the worst start in the third where he pushed the shuttle wide continuously to trail 1-7.
It set the tone for the Japanese to keep his nose well in front and condemn Lee to yet another early round exit.
It was also the end of the road for Goh Jin Wei in the women’s singles after she lost 18-21, 12-21 to Japanese Aya Ohori.
