Chinese superstar Chen Long has increased the excitement surrounding the upcoming World Junior Championships (Oct 6-19) in India after he posted a video of himself on court.
“Getting ready for the team championship,” posted Chen on his social media, which got fans excited.
In the video, the two-time men's singles world champion and 2016 Olympic gold medalist is seen monitoring his players in training.
The World Junior Championships is, of course, no stranger to Chen who previously won the boys singles title back in 2007 when he defeated Japan’s Kenichi Tago.
The 36-year-old was appointed as China’s men’s junior coach late last year, a move that was hailed by many badminton observers.
An accomplished shuttler like Chen would only inspire the Chinese shuttlers to emulate his success.
Chen is set to guide a Chinese contingent with a great track record in the World Junior Championships.
China is the most successful country with 74 gold medals, with Malaysia in second place with 14 golds.
But the Republic nation has not been able to translate the success of the boys singles into the senior ranks.
In fact, the last high profile Chinese shuttler to have won the boys’ individual event was Chen himself.
After that, Tian Houwei briefly impressed on the World Tour before fading away.
Chen would be hoping to use this competition to find another gem like him for the future of China's men's singles.
