The Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) became the latest organisations to thread caution with the spreading coronavirus that has put global citizens on red alert.
The BWF issued a statement stating they acknowledged the complications the virus might have on the World Tour circuit, after all flights to and from China and some countries were suspended.
The world body, however, did not make any decision on the next tournament to be held in China next month.
"Currently, no decision has been made on any change in status to the Lingshui China Masters 2020 scheduled to take place between 25 February to March 1 in China.
"But the BWF is working with local organisers and the Chinese Badminton Association to create greater clarity around any risks," read the statement.
There are several other tournaments happening in China later in the year, but the immediate concern only surrounds the China Masters.
The BAM, meanwhile, confirmed they will not be sending any athletes to the China Masters due to the rise of people infected with the virus.
To date, the coronavirus already claimed over 130 lives, with close to 6,000 confirmed cases in China.
The outbreak also spread to Germany, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia.
