Pemain beregu lelaki negara, Ameer Amri Zainuddin, tidak menyesal mengambil risiko mengeruhkan lagi kecederaannya dalam Kejohanan Badminton Remaja Dunia, malah lebih terkilan kerana tidak berupaya menyumbangkan pingat buat negara.
Ameer mengalami kecederaan lutut kanan dalam pertemuan menentang beregu Perancis dalam pusingan ketiga di Bilbao Arena, Sepanyol, Khamis lalu.
Selepas tersungkur kali pertama, Ameer cuba meneruskan perlawanan sebelum akhirnya akur untuk menarik diri.
Ameer akan meneruskan pemulihan dan pemantauan ke atas lututnya sekembali ke tanah air, dengan pemeriksaan awal mendapati kecederaannya tidak begitu serius.
“Saya ke Bilbao dengan cita-cita untuk membawa pulang pingat buat Malaysia. Saya mahu membuktikan sesuatu kepada Malaysia.
"Saya mengambil perkara ini sebagai satu hikmah dan belum masanya lagi untuk saya melakar kejayaan buat Malaysia. Saya berharap untuk kembali pulih secepat mungkin,” jelas Ameer.
Ameer juga bakal berdepan cabaran untuk mengekalkan kedudukan dalam skuad bimbingan Cheah Soon Kit.
Malah, adik kepada perseorangan negara, Iskandar Zulkarnain, itu antara pemain yang masih belum memiliki gandingan tetap dalam skuad pelapis negara.
“Segala keputusan terletak di tangan jurulatih. Tugas saya adalah untuk mempertingkatkan kualiti permainan saya.”
