National mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei have been split up, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) confirmed on Friday.
"The pair have been split up for upcoming tournaments. We have agreed to allow the coaches some time to try out possible combinations," said BAM acting President Datuk V Subramaniam in a statement.
The decision to split the world number four pair came following the recommendation of national mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto and doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky.

Chen-Toh have been separated due to a communication breakdown between the pair.
This issue is understood due to their performance on-court rather than a personal issue.
The pair's performance have dropped since earlier this month at the Orleans Masters where they only reached the second round.
After that, they crashed out of the All-England first round.
Before that, the pair started the year well with back-to-back semi-finals at the Malaysia and India Open.
After the pair clashed due to their performance issues, Toh even deactivated her Instagram account.
Splitting Chen-Toh certainly comes as a blow, as the pair showed plenty of chemistry and were gradually rising up the mixed doubles ladder.
They even played with the same hair colour, which indicated they were a tight-knit pair.
It remains to be seen if this split will be a temporary or permanent decision.
The last high profile doubles pair to be split were Goh Sze Fei- Nur Izzuddin when they were still under the BAM umbrella.
