BAC: Sze Fei-Izzuddin, Wei Chong-Kai Wun clinical in straight game victories

Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin headlined the Malaysian shuttler’s progress into the Badminton Asia Championships after the men’s doubles top seeds won their match under 40-minutes.
Goh-Izzuddin looked at their best in the 21-18, 21-16 victory over Japanese pair Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi to advance to the next round.
Goh was clinical at the front court, while Izzuddin was sharp to create the openings from the baseline.

The professional pair will next face Thailand pair Kittinupong Kedren-Dechapol Puavaranukroh.
Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun joined them after a 21-14, 21-12 victory over Hong Kong pair Law Cheuk Him-Yeung Shing Choi, a victory which pits them against Chinese Taipei pair Liu Kuang-hen-Yang Po-han.
In the women’s doubles, Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing also came through but face a tough challenge against reigning Olympic champions Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan.
The women’s singles will see Goh Jin Wei facing Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in the second round after she won her opening round in straight games 21-16, 21-13.
In the men’s singles, Justin Hoh did well to come from a game down and beat South Korea’s Jeon Hyeok-jin 14-21, 22-20, 21-16.
He will next face either Koki Watanabe or second seeded Jonatan Christie.
Meanwhile, Ng Tze Yong’s first competitive match in over a year ended in a 9-21, 12-21 defeat against Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
Leong Jun Hao also lost his match in straight games, and it was the same for women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah.
