Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi came up just short of clinching the Australian Open men's doubles title after a 16-21, 20-22 defeat to Chinese pair Liu Yi Chen-Ou Xuan Yi on Sunday.
The Malaysian men's pair can hold their heads up high despite the 44-minute defeat after coming through a gruelling semi-final match against He Ji Ting-Zhao Hao Dong, which may have taken a toll physically on them.

It had been an exceptional period for Ong-Yew, who also reached the Denmark Open semis last month.
They next compete at the World Tour Finals in Bangkok next month.
China were the biggest winners by picking up three titles in total.
The badminton powerhouse triumphed in the men's singles through Shi Yu Qi, who beat his compatriot Lu Guang Zu 21-19, 18-21, 21-5 in the final.
Zhang Su Xian-Zheng Yu delivered the third title for China in the women's doubles after a 21-19, 21-13 win over Thailand's Benyapa-Nuntakarn Aimsaard.
South Korea were the second biggest winners after An Se-Young and Kim Won-ho-Jeong Na-Eun won the women's singles and mixed doubles titles.
