Ng Tze Yong and Lee Zii Jia will face off in a tantalising Australian Open quarter-final clash after both shuttlers booked their berths in contrasting style on Thursday.

The world number 21 saved a match point in a close opening game, and took the lead with a powerful overhead smash that left Christie no answer.

Last week's Japan Open runner-up continued to struggle in the second game against the Malaysian, who raced to a 10-4 lead before sealing another momentous win with a big smash.

He goes on to face Lee, who huffed and puffed his way past India's Mithun Manjunath 21-13, 12-21, 21-19.

Lee, who still struggled to put away points he should be easily scoring, kept his composure to secure the confindence boosting win.

Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik also made it into the last eight after a straightforward victory, which pits them against Lu Ching-yao-Yang Po-han next.

The quartet were the only representatives left in this Super 500 event in Sydney after the rest all lost.

Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, Hoo Pang Ron-Teoh Mei Xing and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai lost in three games, while Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin bowed out in two.
