Asian Games: Aaron-Wooi Yik only Malaysians through to semis
Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik ensured Malaysia will be guaranteed a podium finish at the Asian Games after they beat home pair Liu Yi Chen-Ou Xuan Yi 21-18, 19-21, 21-18 to make the semi-finals.
All hopes were pined on the national men's doubles pair to keep the country's interest alive in this individual event after four other representatives crashed out in earlier matches.
The deciding match against Liu-Ou was a tense battle, but the Malaysians were braver in the closing stages to come away with the priceless victory, leaving the Chinese pair dejected in front of their home crowd.
Standing in the way of the world number five pair to the final are Asian Championships winners Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Sherry.
Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia came the closest to joining them in the last four, but he couldn't convert two match points against H.S. Prannoy and fell to a 16-21, 23-21, 20-22 defeat in a gripping encounter that saw both men trade blows until the final rally.

The South Koreans recovered admirably after losing the first game to level matters and thwarted every attack that came their way.
