Lee Zii Jia showcased another attacking masterclass to dispose of Loh Kean Yew in straight games and book an All-England Open quarter-finals berth on Thursday.
Fresh off beating Kodai Naraoka on Wednesday, Lee brought the same energy and intensity level against the Malaysian-born Loh and wrapped up the 21-15, 21-12 victory in just 33-minutes.
The 2021 champion started off like a man on fire and once again deployed his high line strategy, where he looked to cut out Loh’s returns as close to the net.
Whenever the Singaporean fed him with loose shuttles at the back court, Lee wasted no time in killing them with his smashes which has proved a great tool in this Super 1000 event.
The victory moves him into the last eight for a showdown against either Lakshya Sen or Anders Antonsen.
National mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei failed to join Lee in the last eight after they lost 21-17, 19-21, 16-21 against Dutch pair Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek.
Chen-Toh had done well to knock out former champions Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the second round, but found their Dutch opponents a resilient force and disappointingly crashed out.
Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing also saw their campaign come to an end with a straight game loss against Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet, and it was the same with Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai against their Chinese opponents.
