Malaysian men's doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik reached the 2019 All England Open final after overcoming Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia on Saturday.
They won 12-21 22-20 21-19 to continue their fine run on their debut, which saw them also beat 2018 Thomas Cup victors Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and 2017 world champions Liu Cheng and Zhang Nan.
The duo, who had reached four badminton finals together since 2017, winning none of them, take on 2014 winners Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the final on Sunday.
If they emerged victorious, they would become the first Malaysian pair to win the tournament since Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong did in 2007.
National compatriots Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai came close to joining them in the final, but the mixed doubles duo lost to Japanese pair Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino in the semi-finals.
On Saturday, China and Malaysia's stranglehold in the men's singles division was ended after defending champion Shi Yuqi lost to Viktor Axelsen in the semi-finals.
In the first men's singles final without at least one Chinese or Malaysian shuttler in 20 years, the Danish star faces 2018 world champion Kento Momota — both have never won the tournament before.
In the women's singles final, Tai Tzu-ying is line of winning her third straight All England Open title as she takes on Chinese shuttler Chen Yufei, while in the women's doubles final, it is a showdown between China's Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan and Japan's Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara.
