Malaysian men's doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik came close to winning their first-ever major title as they lost in the 2019 All England Open final on Sunday.
Despite having a good start, the world no. 18 duo were beaten by two-time world champions Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan 21-11, 14-21, 12-21.
It was their third defeat to the experienced Indonesians in as many meetings — they previously lost at the 2018 Malaysia International Challenge and the 2019 Indonesia Masters.
Their defeat extended Malaysia's wait for a men's double victory in England since Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong last won it 12 years ago.
In other finals, China claimed the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles honours.
Chen Yufei stunned world number one and two-time winner Tai Tzu-ying 21-17, 21-17, Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan came back from a set down to beat 2018 world champions Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara 18-21, 22-20, 21-11, and Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong avenged their 2018 final defeat to defending champions Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino by winning 21-17, 22-20.
As for the men's singles final, Kento Momota became the first Japanese shuttle to win the event after downing Viktor Axelsen 21-11, 15-21, 21-15.
