Malaysian men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will use the next three weeks to address their shortcomings with the Badminton Association of Malaysia's (BAM) coaching staff, ahead of an intense period that includes the Badminton Asia Championships (April 25-30) and the Sudirman Cup (May 14-21).

Chia-Soh’s latest setback came at last week's Swiss Open that saw them lose to Japanese pair Akira Koga-Taichi Sato in the second round.

It followed a string of early exits this year including at the All England, German Open and Malaysia Open.

“When you lose, everything is not going right. We have to dissect the problem and find a way to solve them. Sometimes others may think it’s an easy problem, but that may not be the case.

“Because when we are on court, it is just the both of us. The coaching and support staff can give their input before a match, but when we are playing the decisions are entirely up to us. We will use the next three weeks to prepare for the upcoming events,” said Chia.

After the two team tournaments, the world number two pair are scheduled to compete at the Malaysia Masters (May 23-28), Singapore Open (June 6-11), Indonesia Open (June 13-18) and the Taipei Open (June 20-25).

The month of May also marks the start of the qualifying period to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Since winning the World Championships title last year, Chia-Soh’s best result came at the India Open in January when they finished as runners-up, missing out on winning their maiden BWF World Tour crown.
