3 talking points from Malaysia's exit at BAMTC

Malaysia failed to advance to the knockout stage of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships (BAMTC) for the first time in this edition. Stadium Astro highlights three talking points from the national team’s campaign.
Mixed doubles pairs failed to deliver
The pairings of Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin & Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai both drew blanks against Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Should either pair have won their match, it would have been a different story for Malaysia.
A lot more was expected of both pairs in this tournament considering the improvement they have shown in recent times, especially against Tang Chun Man (Hong Kong) and Dejan Ferdinansyah (Indonesia) who were playing with new partners.
Mei Xing-Pei Kee should have earned point vs Indonesia
While the straight game defeat to Hong Kong was understandable given their opponent’s class and much higher rank, Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee should have won the contest against their Indonesian opponents.
After winning the first game, the Malaysians simply surrendered the second game which went to a decider.
The world number 48 fought hard in that game, but their constant mistakes in the crucial rallies proved the downfall.
Should they have made the overall scores 2-2, there was a high chance Malaysia would have won the final match in the men’s doubles.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun the standout performers
If there was one positive from Malaysia’s campaign in Qingdao, China, it was the performance of Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun.
Despite entering the contest against Indonesia 3-1 down and knowing that their team is already out of the competition, Man-Tee put on a sizzling display to earn a morale boosting victory for themselves.
Their resilience and confidence only seems to be on the rise since they won the Indonesia Masters title last month.
Man-Tee are the only shuttlers to have won both their matches for Malaysia.
Their form also provides a healthy competition in the men’s doubles.
