Young Tonumaipea is determined to grasp a fresh NRL chance with the Gold Coast Titans after returning from a Mormon mission in Germany.
The former Melbourne Storm back left Australia during the 2018 season to head to Berlin, and his return comes on 'train-and-trial' terms, with 27-year-old Tonumaipea looking to hit the ground running.

He said via the Titans' website: "I've been away for a couple of years and have come back with all of this COVID-19 stuff happening but I'm grateful to the Gold Coast Titans for giving me this opportunity and I plan on taking it with both hands.
“It's awesome to be back in Australia and here at the Titans. I'm looking forward to the challenge that is ahead.
“I'll definitely apply myself and I'm looking for a spot at some stage this year. I'll do my best at everything I can."

Samoa international Tonumaipea could capitalise following the departure from the Titans of England centre Kallum Watkins, who was recently allowed to leave on compassionate grounds.
He will be looking to earn a permanent contract and add to the 44 NRL appearances and 12 tries he achieved during his Storm career.
The 2020 season, which was suspended in March after just two rounds due to the coronavirus pandemic, is set to resume on May 28.
