When Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju picked up a copy of The Source from a local bookstore, he had little idea the impact the book would have on his training.
Written by Tara Swift, The Source is an excellent prelude to the law of attraction, which leverages the mind’s thoughts to induce positive outcomes.
As a professional mixed martial artist, Raju was fascinated by the power of positive thinking.

“Honestly, this came out of nowhere,” he said. “I just randomly chose this book and felt really interested once I started reading.”
“The Kerala Krusher” has seen improvements after adopting the techniques prescribed in the book. He even attributes his recent winning performances inside the ONE Circle to the mental resilience he developed.
“It wasn’t only preparing me for the match itself, but it was also reminding me how at every moment in our daily lives, there are opportunities that we let slip by,” Raju said.
“We have to pay attention to our thoughts and how we carry ourselves, our body language, the detail in our training. It all works together.”
Raju knows this is hardly a winning formula, but he believes the constant mental training and focus he has learned from The Source is the first big step needed to better his life.
“This is not just about my training or my fighting,” he said. “It applies to my life, my health, my wealth, my state of mind. If I am at peace, I can focus and do so much more in my life.”
Now a strong advocate of personal-development, Raju has also turned to podcasts and audiobooks as an additional source of wisdom.
“They help keep things fresh for me, because sometimes reading all the time is boring,” Raju said. “Plus, these are hosted by people that I know, like Emilio [Urrutia] and my coach Matt Pelino.”
The Juggernaut Fight Club representative is confident that all this added preparation during this quarantine downtime will pay dividends.
Raju is gearing up for a potential showdown with Singapore’s own Amir Khan and he knows a win over the local hero will definitely move him up the official lightweight rankings.
“Yeah I just need one or two more solid wins against an elite level opponent,” he said.
“This is the power of positive thinking. I have asked for that match, let’s see what happens. If I get the win, then I will be coming for the belt after that.”
