The Hurricanes officially have a new majority owner.
The NHL announced Thursday, Tom Dundon's purchase of 61 percent of the franchise has been approved.

"I am thrilled to continue to build upon what Peter Karmanos started in Raleigh," Dundon said in December when the purchase agreement was reached, via the team's website. "The Hurricanes are a team on the rise, and I believe we have an opportunity to take the franchise to the next level. I'm ready to get to work."
Dundon is a primary investor in the Top Golf golf/entertainment chain and one of the developers of Trinity Forest Golf Club in southeast Dallas, built specifically to become home to the PGA Tour's Byron Nelson Classic. He has pledged to keep the team in Raleigh.
Dundon will be introduced as the team's owner at a press conference Friday.
The Hurricanes are currently 19-15-8 on the season, entering Thursday's action sixth in the Metropolitan Division.
