Three underrated free agents who should be serviceable in 2019

Free agency is approaching and there will be quite a few high-profile players hitting the open market this summer.

Some of the most sought after stars include Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Kemba Walker, Kyrie Irving and others.

But there are also some role players who could seriously upgrade teams looking to improve.

Here are three underrated free agents who could make a splash in 2019:

Bojan Bogdanovic, F

A lot of teams need shooting, and Bogdanovic is one of the best shooters available.

The 6-8 Croatian wing is 30 years old, but is coming off a career year in which he averaged 18.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 49.7 percent from the field. Bogdanovic picked it up during the second half of the season and was instrumental to the Pacers securing the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference.

Bogdanovic averaged 20.9 points and shot 42.2 percent from behind the arc after the All-Star break and is also a decent defender who can guard up to three positions. He proved he can be the top option for Indiana in the absence of Victor Oladipo, who suffered a season-ending leg injury in 2018-19. So there's no question he can catch and shoot or create opportunities for himself.

Dewayne Dedmon, C

Dedmon has been a journeyman in the NBA for six seasons but has been relatively productive in recent years.

The 7-foot big man averaged 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Hawks this past season. But one of the most enticing things about him is his ability to score at all three levels.

Dedmon can fill whatever role he's needed for and can stretch the floor, as he shot 38.2 percent from deep in 2018-19. Brook Lopez was tremendous for the Bucks this year and Dedmon put up similar numbers on a team that shot just as many 3's as Milwaukee.

The 29-year-old can pull rim protectors to the perimeter and give his teammates room to slash to the basket.

Rudy Gay, F

Rudy Gay is coming off the most efficient season of his career at age 32.

The versatile wing shot better than 50% from the field, 40% from deep and 81% from the charity stripe. Gay averaged 13.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists as a fourth option.

Teams looking for a player who can scavenge for garbage points, doesn't need many touches and can convert the opportunities he gets at a high clip should consider making a move on him. Gay is expected to re-sign with San Antonio at the moment, though.
