Three takeaways from No. 9 Kansas' Big 12 Championship win over No. 18 West Virginia

Kansas is the Big 12 Tournament champion once again. The No. 9 Jayhawks took down No. 18 West Virginia Saturday 81-70 and did so without their big man in the middle.

The Jayhawk got great production from their backup big men though and one player's performance really led them in the second half.

Here are three takeaways from Kansas' win.

1. Silvio De Sousa makes loss of Udoka Azubuike OK

When it became known Jayhawks center Udoka Azubuike would miss the Big 12 Tournament with a knee injury it was easy for Kansas fans to panic. But Silvio De Sousa made it all right especially with how he played Saturday.

The freshman scored 16 points and added 10 rebounds off the bench and held Mountaineers big man Sagaba Konate down in the second half which helped the Jayhawks create some separation. De Sousa's career may be short lived in Lawrence, but he at least made it worth it for one weekend.

2. Devonte' Graham doesn't have to score

The Big 12 Player of the Year wasn't a scoring dynamo Saturday, but he didn't have to be. The senior scored 18 points and assisted on 13 other field goals to help the Jayhawks to victory.

He was also effective enough from outside to help stretch out the West Virginia defense hitting 3 of 7 3-pointers. Graham will be more than missed by Bill Self in coming years.

3. Daxter Miles Jr. stole the show

Jevon Carter gets the majority of the attention for West Virginia, and understandably so, but it was Miles who was showing off in the Big 12 Championship. Miles scored 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting with five 3-pointers made and almost singlehandedly put the game out of reach for Kansas in the second half

The Jayhawks obviously came back and won comfortably, but Miles made nothing comfortable for KU Saturday.
