Tennessee's Jordan Bone declares for NBA Draft

Jordan Bone will declare for the NBA Draft after three years at Tennessee, he said Wednesday.

The junior guard said he's proved his worth with the Volunteers and that he's comfortable moving on to the pros.

“I feel like over these past three years that I have put myself in a good position to test the waters,” Bone told 247Sports. “I’m a junior now, so they have the rule where you can test the waters and come back if need be, but honestly I feel like I have proven myself to be one of the better point guards in the country.”

Bone is coming off a great season for Tennessee, which made it to the Elite Eight in this year's NCAA Tournament before losing to Purdue. In the Volunteers' 31-6 season, Bone averaged 13.5 points, 5.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game

Bone said that this experience makes him the top guard in the country and that he is a well-rounded package for an NBA  team.

“Honestly, I believe I’m the best in the country, but I feel like I have put myself in a position to [go pro], with my growth over the past couple of years,” Bone said. “I feel like I have different things about my game that I believe will translate at the next level greatly as far as speed, athleticism, IQ in different situations and things like that. I just know it’s going to translate and just the different attributes about my game that help it translate in the next level."

Bone said his plan is to pursue a professional career but added he knows there is an option to return for a fourth year at Tennessee if the NBA doesn't work out this season.

“Well you know that there is always a chance that I come back but honestly if I put myself in a position to go then I’m going all in,” Bone said. “It’s a once in a lifetime chance and not many people can say that they’re in the position. I’m extremely blessed to be in my position, but if the opportunity is there to take then I’m going to take it.”

The NCAA added a new rule that states prospects can go through the draft process with an NBA agent, but if the player changes his mind, he must withdraw his name from the NBA Draft process by May 29.

The 2019 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 20.
