The Suns are the latest sports franchise that could soon be on the move.

According to The Arizona Republic, team owner Robert Sarver is threatening Phoenix city officials with a move to Seattle or Las Vegas if Talking Stick Resort Arena is not renovated.

Phoenix mayor Thelda Williams and councilwomen Laura Pastor and Debra Stark asked to postpone Wednesday’s City Council vote on contributing $150 million to the $230 million arena deal given that it was unlikely to pass. The vote will now take place in late January.

The Suns have already pledged $80 million to the renovation should it garner enough votes.

Still, the arena deal reportedly had three confirmed "no" votes, with one more dissenting vote set to scuttle the project.

Suns president and CEO Jason Rowley released a statement on the matter later Wednesday, saying the goal is to keep the team in the city.

"We have learned that a request has been made to continue the agenda item on the arena renovation until a council meeting on Jan. 23," Rowley said.

"We very much look forward to publicly discussing the many ways in which Talking Stick Resort Arena benefits Downtown Phoenix and our community at large, and answering any questions the Council and their constituents may have about the arena and the proposed renovation. Our priority remains being in Downtown Phoenix long term, and we're excited about the opportunity that lies ahead."

Sarver, 57, purchased the Suns for $401 million in 2004.
