Queensland Maroons rallied from an 8-0 half-time deficit to defeat New South Wales Blues in State of Origin I.

The Blues won last year, but they have work to do as they head to neutral ground for the first Origin match at Perth's Optus Stadium.

NSW have fared well in such contests in recent years, yet the Maroons' second-half recovery in Game I was far from unique.

We look at these patterns and more with the help of Opta numbers ahead of Game II.

2 - NSW have triumphed in the past two Origin games played on neutral ground, although both of those came at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

4 - The Blues won the series last year, but Queensland have won four of the sides' past six meetings. Three of those victories came after trailing at half-time.

5 - New South Wales have won the second match of the series in four of the past seven years.

10 - Perth's Optus Stadium, used for the first time, will become the 10th stadium to host an Origin match.

11 - Dane Gagai's double last time out took him to 11 tries in 11 Origin appearances. Only Greg Inglis (18), Darius Boyd (17), Dale Shearer and Billy Slater (both 12) have more.

20 - It is 20 years since NSW won the first match at a new venue - ANZ Stadium in 1999. Queensland have been successful in the debut matches at five of the nine previous stadiums.
