Sri Lanka make one change to ODI squad for Australia
Sri Lanka have named their 16-member squad for their two-match ODI series against Australia, with only one change from their last match in the format.
Sri Lanka took a squad of 17 for their tour of New Zealand in January, but seam-bowling all-rounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe has been dropped this time around.
Unlike Australia, Sri Lanka are not preparing for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will take place in Pakistan after the short series is over, as they did not make the cut.
Though there may be some worry about Pathum Nissanka's form, after he managed just 19 runs across two innings in their second Test against Australia, Kusal Mendis scored a combined 135 across his two stands last week.
Sri Lanka are looking to put in a better showing in the ODIs than they did in their recent Test series, losing both comprehensively in the clean sweep.
Australia dealt them their worst-ever defeat in Test history in the first, winning by an innings and 242 runs, before cruising to a nine-wicket victory in the second in Galle.
Sri Lanka, however, have won their last five ODI series at home, losing just one match in the process. They did lose their last outing in this format though, beaten 2-1 by New Zealand earlier this year.
Sri Lanka squad for ODIs:
Charith Asalanka (captain), Nishan Madushka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Janith Liyanage, Kamindu Mendis, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Eshan Malinga, Mohamed Shiraz, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, Dunith Wellalage
