St. John's star sophomore Shamorie Ponds is playing on another level right now.
Ponds scored 44 points Saturday in an 86-78 win over Marquette by hitting 16 of 24 shots from the floor. Ponds has scored at least 26 points in each of his last four games, including a 33-point effort in a win over Duke.

The win marked St. John's third straight after losing its previous 11. Ponds, averaging over 21 points per game, has been a key factor in the Red Storm's turnaround.
While St. John's (13-13) is out of at-large NCAA Tournament consideration, it still could play its way into the NIT, especially if it keeps collecting signature wins.
St. John's has defeated No. 4 Duke and No. 1 Villanova during its three-game winning streak.
