History was made on Saturday as a self-driving car created for Roborace completed a lap in public for the first time ahead of the Formula E Paris ePrix.

The autonomous vehicle went around the Circuit des Invalides in the French capital.

The Russian-backed initiative has partnered with Formula E and is intended to culminate in the first driverless motorsport series.

There was a delay on the car's maiden public lap as it had to stop in order for it's projected line to be adjusted having come too close to a barrier.

Another run is planned, with the hope that it can be sent out without the need for a support vehicle in tow.
