A record for World Cup wins and crystal globes - Lindsey Vonn's career in numbers

Sunday's downhill race at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will mark the end of an era as Lindsey Vonn races in the professional environment for the final time.

Vonn announced her impending retirement earlier this month as she continues to struggle with ongoing injury problems.

The American missed large chunks of 2013 and 2014 due to some heavy crashes, while a knee problem sustained in training in November last year effectively forced her to change her plans for stepping away.

It remains to be seen whether Vonn will bow out with downhill glory in Are on Sunday but even if there is no fairytale ending, there can be no denying that hers has been a stellar career, as the numbers show...

16 - Vonn's age when she made her World Cup debut in Park City in November 2000, competing in the slalom.

17 - She was only a year older when she took her bow on the Olympic stage in Salt Lake City in 2002, finishing sixth in the combined and 32nd in the slalom.

3 - Her Olympic career has delivered three medals - two bronze (super-G in Vancouver in 2010 and downhill in Pyeongchang last year) and a gold in the downhill at the 2010 Games.

1 - That triumph in Whistler saw her become the first American woman to win downhill gold at the Olympics.
