Pistons to interview Kenny Smith for heading coach job, report says

Kenny Smith will interview for the Detroit Pistons head coaching job, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.

Smith is currently a studio analyst with Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal on TNT’s "Inside the NBA." Smith also contributes to Turner’s college basketball coverage during the NCAA Tournament.

Smith played 10 seasons in the NBA from 1987-97 and won two NBA Championships with the Rockets in 1994 and 1995. He also spent time with the Kings, Hawks, Pistons, Magic and Nuggets.

Smith finished his career averaging 12.8 points and 5.5 assists per game.

The Pistons finished 2017-18 with a 39-43 record and missed the playoffs for a second straight season. They parted ways with president of basketball operations and head coach Stan Van Gundy in early May.
