Mohammad Amir has been recalled to Pakistan's Twenty20 squad for the series against South Africa.

The paceman, who has not played for his country in the shortest format since July, is among the 15 players included for a three-match series next month.

Amir was dropped from the white-ball sides after a disappointing Asia Cup, but is back in favour in all formats.

Waqas Maqsood makes way for Amir in otherwise unchanged squad following back-to-back whitewashes over Australia and New Zealand.

Chairman of selectors Inzamam-ul-Haq said: "Once again, the selectors have gone ahead with the policy of maintaining consistency and retaining a winning combination.

"While our focus is very much on this year's ICC Cricket World Cup, we cannot forget that the ICC T20 World Cup is in Australia in the second half of 2020.

"So, we need to give as much exposure and experience to our up and coming players as possible, but without compromising on the assignments in hand."

The T20 series gets under way in Cape Town on February 1.
