The Hurricanes' new owner is calling for all fans to sit in the lower bowl — and even the suites — during Tuesday's game against the Senators at PNC Arena.

Tom Dundon, who became the Hurricanes's majority owner on Jan. 11, wants the lower bowl to be "energetic and packed," which he says gives off a better atmosphere during games.

“It’s obvious it’s sort of a playoff push now," Dundon said, via The News & Observer. "We’re going to let the people who want to come down and get a better experience. I think we’re going to run out of tickets so we’re going to have to open up suites … to make sure we take care of as many people as we can.”

If the lower level and suites are filled, that would mean 12,038 will be in attendance. To have this happen, Dundon is telling those who have upper-level seats to come down to an assigned seat in the lower bowl. If those are filled, the overflow will go to the suites — even the owner's box.

However, if fans want to stay in the upper levels Dundon said they will be allowed, although he encourages them to move down.

“I think it would be awesome if there’s nobody up there but it might end up there’s a few because people have their preferences,” Dundon said. “I’m hoping they all want to come down and get it closer and make it louder. That’s the goal, to make this more the playoff-type environment.”

The Canes are just four points out of playoff contention, and with 10 home games in February, Dundon said he is making different promotions for each game to fill the arena to give as much of a home advantage as possible.
