NBA trade rumors: Mavericks interested in dealing for Wizards F Otto Porter Jr.
The Mavericks are looking to upgrade their roster.
Dallas has expressed interest in trading for Wizards forward Otto Porter Jr., according to a report from The Athletic, which cites unidentified league sources. The 25-year-old forward has been out since injuring his knee Dec. 10, but he’s expected to return Wednesday against the Hawks.
Porter is tallying 11.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 29.5 minutes per game this season. He’s shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from 3-point range.
Porter, who averaged a career-high 14.7 points in 2017-18, has spent all six of his NBA seasons with the Wizards. He has two seasons remaining on the four-year, $104 million contract he signed in July 2017, including a player option for 2020-21.
The Mavericks, led by rookie star Luka Doncic, will enter their matchup Wednesday against the Hornets with a 17-19 record. They’re three games behind the Spurs for the final Western Conference playoff spot.
The Wizards hold a 14-23 record and star guard John Wall is expected to undergo season-ending heel surgery this week.
