NBA free agency rumors: Gregg Popovich wants to pitch Spurs to LeBron James
Add Gregg Popovich and the Spurs to the long list of teams interested in LeBron James as the Cavaliers star makes a decision on his future.
James has the option to opt out of his contract and become a free agent this summer, and with that comes speculation as to where one of the best players in the NBA will land.
Marc Stein of The New York Times reported Saturday that Spurs coach Popovich "is bound to try to force his way into the conversation to sell James on the merits of South Texas."

The Spurs are a new addition to the list of seven teams ESPN's Stephen A. Smith listed off as early contenders for James to have conversations with this offseason. The list included: Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.
ESPN notes James has to inform the Cavs his intentions by 11:59 p.m. ET on June 29.
Just in case you need a visual representation of what James would look like in a San Antonio uniform, Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray tweeted this image Friday to start lobbying the four-time MVP:

While it's all speculation now, James said Friday that he "has no idea" what his decision will be. He did say, however, that his family will be a big factor in where he ends up next.
