MotoGP 2020: Dovizioso accepts title hopes could be on the line in Teruel Grand Prix
Andrea Dovizioso accepts the coming Teruel Grand Prix could be crucial when it comes to his MotoGP championship hopes.

Although he recovered from qualifying woes to finish seventh at the Aragon Grand Prix, the Italian would have hoped to take better advantage of previous championship leader Fabio Quartararo's damaging ride, in which he dropped from pole to 18th.

Alex Rins took the victory ahead of Maverick Vinales, with his Suzuki Ecstar team-mate Joan Mir moving top of the riders' standings after finishing third.

Mir now leads by six points from Quartararo, with Vinales third on 109 and Dovizioso fourth on 106 with just four races left in 2020.

Dovizioso hopes Ducati can move on from last week's frustrations and produce a strong qualifying display to put him in a good position to close on the leader.

"It is very important [the race], for sure," he said on Thursday. "Even more because there are only four races remaining and the points aren't too big but we need to gain some points if we want to fight for the championship.

"We know how difficult it will be this weekend because everyone will be faster, so to be in the top ten in FP will be very difficult but, at the end, I think we can be faster than last week and the weather looks like it will be better.

"We will be focused to try and start on the first two rows, it will make a big difference because everyone is struggling with the tyre."
