Wigan Warriors extended Leeds Rhinos' losing streak to seven games with a 46-8 thrashing of the struggling Super League champions.

Winger Liam Marshall scored a hat-trick and Sam Tomkins kicked 18 points as Wigan emphatically bounced back from their dramatic 19-18 loss to Castleford last time out.

Leeds, in contrast, are in serious danger of slipping outside the top eight after their miserable run of form continued.

Brian McDermott's side took the lead at the DW Stadium, Brett Ferres grabbing the game's first try when a kick caused problems for Wigan's defence.

However, Marshall crossed twice before the break as the Warriors fought back impressively, Josh Woods also touching down as the hosts cruised to a 22-4 lead at the halfway stage.

After Luke Briscoe had a try disallowed for Leeds by the video referee early in the second half, scores for Liam Farrell and Tommy Leuluai further extended Wigan's advantage.

Joel Moon grabbed a consolation score, but, despite finishing the game with 12 men following a yellow card for Romain Navarrete, Tony Clubb set up Tom Davies before Marshall completed his treble in the final minute.
