Krejcikova withdraws from Indian Wells through injury

Reigning Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova has withdrawn from Indian Wells and the Miami Open due to an ongoing back injury.
Krejcikova has not featured in any tournament in 2025 yet, having also withdrawn from the Australian Open in January after saying she needed more time for her injury to heal.
She last played at the WTA Finals in November, where she beat Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, both in straight sets, en route to the semi-finals, which she lost to Zheng Qinwen.

Krejcikova sustained the injury during the Asian swing of the WTA Tour last year, and also seemingly struggled with it at the tournament in Riyadh.

Krejcikova has never gone beyond the fourth round in singles at Indian Wells in her previous two appearances at the tournament but won the doubles in 2023, her second appearance in the final.
The Czech is so far not due to play in March, having also dropped out of the Miami Open - she has never progressed past the fourth round in singles there either.
Organisers confirmed Julia Graher will take Krejcikova’s place in the main draw at Indian Wells, which begins on March 5. The Miami Open, meanwhile, starts on March 18.
