Joonas Donskoi injury update: Resurgent Sharks F leaves with apparent shoulder injury
Resurgent Sharks forward Joonas Donskoi left San Jose's 4-3 overtime victory Wednesday in Edmonton with an apparent shoulder injury, the San Jose Mercury News reported, calling the injury "potentially significant."
He slammed his stick to the ice before leaving up the tunnel after being driven into the boards by Oilers defenseman Ethan Bear.
There was no update on Donskoi's status after the game. San Jose next plays Friday at Calgary.
Donskoi, 25, has come alive since the Sharks acquired Evander Kane last month, scoring six points in seven games since the trade. Donskoi had recorded only 17 points in 61 points up to that point while battling a pair of shoulder injuries.
The injury put a damper on an otherwise fruitful night for the Sharks, who with the OT victory moved into a three-point lead over the Kings for second place in the Pacific Division.
