Jack Eichel will be out indefinitely after he was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, the Sabres announced Sunday.

Eichel sustained the injury Saturday night against the Bruins, when his right leg crumpled awkwardly beneath him.

There isn't a timeline for Eichel's return, but he sustained a similar injury in his left leg that sidelined him for eight weeks last season.

Eichel leads the Sabres with 21 goals and 53 points this season.
