Irving undergoes successful ACL surgery

The Dallas Mavericks have confirmed Kyrie Irving has undergone successful surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Irving tore the ACL in his left leg during the Mavs' 122-98 defeat to the Sacramento Kings on March 3.
The 33-year-old was averaging 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists this season prior to his injury.

He is now set for a long spell out as he recovers from the surgery, though Irving does have a $43.9million player option for the 2025-26 season ahead of the final year of the deal he signed with the Mavs back in 2023.

Dallas, who traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February, have gone 3-8 since losing Irving, and sit 11th in the Western Conference.
They were, though, able to welcome Anthony Davis into the fold for the first time in six weeks after he recovered from an adductor issue. It marked only his second appearance for the team since he came in as part of the Doncic trade.
