Former Louisville coach Rick Pitino plans to sue Adidas after recruiting scandal
Former Louisville coach Rick Pitino has filed a federal civil suit against Adidas according to the Courier-Journal.
Adidas severed ties with the hall of famer Monday. In the lawsuit Pitino has again vehemently denied any involvement in the recent pay-for-play scandal that rocked the college basketball world and resulted in his firing from the University of Louisville.
"In today's lawsuit, Coach Pitino swears that he had nothing to do with, and no knowledge of, the Adidas conspiracy," Pitino's attorney, Steve Pence, told the Courier-Journal.

Pence went on to say that Adidas' involvement in the recruitment of Brian Bowen, "caused (Pitino) to be publicly ridiculed, vilified, and criticized, precisely because their actions make it appear that Coach Pitino knew about or participated in their conspiracy."
It was reported earlier this month that Pitino received 98 percent of Louisville's deal with the apparel company, which amounted to roughly $39 million.
Louisville attorney Michael Valenti will also be representing Pitino alongside Pence.
