Former Grizzlies VP's death ruled a homicide, estranged wife charged

A former Grizzlies executive's estranged wife has been arrested and charged in his stabbing death last month in Orlando, according to multiple reports.

Danielle Redlick, 45, was arrested Wednesday after an autopsy determined that Michael Redlick, 65, was the victim of a homicide, according to the arrest affidavit, the Orlando Sentinel reported. She faces charges of second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence and was ordered to be held without bond after a hearing Thusday morning.

According to police, Danielle Redlick waited more than 11 hours before calling 911 and told detectives that her husband had stabbed himself during a violent argument. Evidence indicated that she used bleach in an effort to clean up her husband's blood at the scene and was on a dating app before calling police, the Sentinel reported.

Michael Redlick, who spent eight years in the Grizzlies front office, most recently was director of external affairs and partnership relations for the DeVos Sport Business Management Program at the UCF. He also had worked for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Browns.

"Mike helped introduce the Grizzlies to Memphis in 2001, playing an integral role in many aspects of our business including our relationship with key partners and the planning and fruition of FedExForum," Grizzlies VP of brand, content marketing, broadcast and communications John Pugliese said in a statement to the Commercial Appeal. "But 'Red' was more then a coworker, he was a friend who’s big smile was only equaled by the size of his heart."

A divorce proceeding, initiated by Danielle Redlick, was dismissed last November over lack of action by her, according to court records.

Two witnesses told detectives that the couple had a rocky relationship and fought often. The couple has two children, ages 15 and 11, according to the reports.
