Flames' Jaromir Jagr placed on waivers
Jaromir Jagr's extensive career in the NHL could be nearing a close.
The Flames on Sunday placed the veteran forward on waivers, TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported.
Other teams will have until noon ET Monday to claim Jagr, who signed a one-year contract worth $1 million with Calgary in October before beginning his 23rd NHL season. If he clears waivers, the Flames will place him on unconditional waivers to mutually terminate his contract and allow him to pursue career options in Europe.

Jagr, 45, logged seven points in 22 games for the Flames this season. He spent last season with the Panthers, recording 16 goals and 30 assists while playing in all 82 games.
The future Hall of Famer and ageless wonder ranks third in games played (1,733), third in goals (766), fifth in assists (1,155), and second in points (1,921) on the league’s all-time leaderboards.
