The 31-year-old will be evaluated in six weeks, meaning he will miss the last games of the Sixers' season.

Philadelphia have had a dismal season and are 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 23-53 record. They have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Embiid has only played 19 games this term, averaging 30.2 minutes.

He has averaged 23.8 points per game, way down on his career average of 27.7.

According to reports, the Sixers are confident Embiid will make a full recovery.
