Earl Eddings has been appointed the permanent chairman of Cricket Australia (CA), replacing David Peever in the role.

Eddings had been interim chair for the past four weeks since Peever's resignation at the start of November, the under-fire boss departing after a cultural review found CA to be "arrogant" and "controlling".

The review was commissioned in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa in March and its results were released late last month.

Now Eddings, who has been a director on the CA board for 10 years, has taken the job on a full-time basis.

"Our aim is to ensure management are empowered to rebuild trust and strengthen the game," said director Jacqueline Hey.

"Earl's involvement over the past decade provides continuity in a time of change and enables the board to maintain strong relations with the International Cricket Council, other member countries and our valued partners."

Former Australia captain Mark Taylor was tipped as a potential replacement for Peever at the time of his resignation.
