Ducks' Ryan Getzlaf could miss 2 months after undergoing facial surgery
Ryan Getzlaf could be missing in action until 2018.
The Ducks on Tuesday announced the team captain will require surgery to repair a broken bone in his cheek after being struck by a puck in Anaheim's win over the Hurricanes on Oct. 29.
Executive vice president and general manager Bob Murray estimated Getzlaf's recovery timeline could be up to two months.
Getzlaf, 27, had already been limited for the Ducks this season after dealing with a lower body injury out of training camp. He recorded one goal and six assists through six games before being sidelined.
The Ducks are scheduled to host the Kings at 10 p.m. ET Tuesday.
