Commonwealth Games: No diving gold for Malaysia for first time since 2006
The Malaysian diving contingent would be heading home from the 2022 Commonwealth Games without a gold medal as the event concluded on Monday.
In the first of two final two diving events at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre, Syafiq Puteh and Nur Dhabitah Sabri managed to get a bronze medal in the mixed synchronised three-metre springboard final, with Gabriel Gilbert Daim and Ng Yan Yee at seventh.
Meanwhile, Jellson Jabillin and Pandelela Rinong were fifth in the mixed synchronised 10-metre platform final.
Coupled with earlier silver medal finishes, Malaysia earned three silver and one bronze medals in total from diving events, missing out on any gold for the first time since the 2006 edition.
Pandelela clinched gold in 2010 (women's 10-metre platform) and in 2018 (women's synchronised 10-metre platform with Cheong Jun Hoong), while Ooi Tze Liang tasted success in 2014 (men's three-metre springboard).
