Commonwealth Games: Grace through to women's hammer throw final

Grace Wong Xiu Mei edged into the women's hammer throw final of the 2022 Commonwealth Games after achieving a 59.53m throw in the qualifying stage.
Making her Games debut at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, the two-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist cut it really close to advance to Saturday's final as she was ranked 12th among 17 athletes.
Despite not getting close to her seasonal best of 61.87m, it was enough for Wong to finish ahead of Sarita Romit Singh (57.48m) of India to take up the last spot.

At the top, Canada's Camryn Rogers set the challenge for the rest of the field as she set a new Games record of 74.68m.
Based on her competitors' qualifying results, if Wong could replicate her national record of 62.48m, she would be able to finish seventh overall.
Meanwhile, fellow national hammer thrower Jackie Wong Siew Cheer would also be in action on Saturday in the men's final.
