Cavaliers guard George Hill set to graduate from college Saturday

Cavaliers point guard George Hill will face the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday. But first he’ll receive his diploma.  

Hill is set to graduate from IUPUI on Saturday. He’s also is scheduled to be a student speaker at the school’s commencement ceremony at Lucas Oil Stadium, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Hill, 32, is the first in his family to graduate from college, according to the Star’s report.

An Indiana native, he averaged 17 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for IUPUI from 2004-08. He was selected 26th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Spurs, who sent him to the Pacers in for Kawhi Leonard before to the 2011-12 season.

Hill spent five seasons with his hometown team.

He signed a three-year contract worth a report $57 million with the Kings in the offseason. He was acquired by Cleveland in a three-team trade in early February. He has averaged 9.4 points and 2.8 assists in 24 games with the Cavs.
