Tan Cheong Min bagged Malaysia’s first silver medal in Hangzhou after completing her women’s nanquan and nandao all-around events on Tuesday.

The 2019 nandao world champion, who also won two gold medals at the 2023 SEA Games, accumulated 19.419 points across both events at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre, finishing behind China’s Chen Huiying (19.590 points).

It was an all-the-hard-work-paid-off moment for the 25-year-old, who narrowly missed out on a podium finish five years ago in Jakarta.

Her achievement also marked Malaysia’s first wushu medal at the Asian Games in 13 years, when Chai Fong Ying and Tai Cheau Xuen won gold and bronze respectively in the 2010 edition.
