Angela Lee Ready For Denice Zamboanga
ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee is ready for her next challenger.
The Singaporean athlete anticipates an explosive encounter with the division’s latest number one contender – Denice “The Menace Fairtex” Zamboanga.
ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong was impressed by Zamboanga’s performance in her unanimous decision victory over martial arts veteran Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi at ONE: KING OF THE JUNGLE in February.

Following the 23-year-old Filipina’s win, he immediately announced that she would be next in line for a shot at the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title.
Lee is excited to welcome “The Menace Fairtex” – who is undefeated – to the big stage.
“I think Denice is a talented rising star. She is a well-rounded mixed martial arts fighter and I’m excited to face her in the ONE cage,” Lee said.
“I’ve seen her previous fights, and she is constantly evolving her technique and fight game.”
“Unstoppable” was impressed with how Zamboanga calmly dealt with the pressure of Yamaguchi, the same woman who had pushed Lee to five rounds in their two World Championship bouts back in 2016 and 2018.
The Filipina used her boxing smarts to outpoint the Japanese veteran. She also showed a vastly improved defense that helped stall Yamaguchi’s submission attempts.
“I think Denice and her team came up with a very smart game plan, and she managed to execute that in the fight,” she said.
“Denice is definitely a dangerous fighter, and I won’t be underestimating her.”
A date for this match-up has yet to be confirmed, but it could be sorted out once the COVID-19 global situation clears.
Speaking of which, Lee wants to remind the fans and public to do their part – be socially responsible, stay safe, and prevent the further spread of the virus.
“I hope everyone tries their best to take preventive measures to stay healthy,” she said. “My prayers are with people who have been affected by the coronavirus.”
