Andre Roberson injury update: Thunder wing (knee) appears unlikely to play this season

The 27-year-old Thunder guard has not played since he ruptured his left patellar tendon in January 2018. Roberson required an additional procedure before the season and suffered another setback during the rehab process in late November.

Thunder coach Billy Donovan told reporters this week there’s still no timetable for Roberson’s return.

"I always hate throwing things out there that could potentially clarify something to be, ‘That’s it,’ but he’s not even doing anything in practice," Donovan said, via The Oklahoman. "He is running. I’ve got nothing medically from anybody that says, 'Hey listen this guy is nearing or approaching being able to play.'"

Donovan, however, said no official decision has been made about Roberson’s status for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.

“Obviously with him not being in practices and being able to do the stuff that we’re doing every day, it’s obviously moving in that direction (of Roberson not returning)," Donovan said.

Roberson, one of the NBA’s best perimeter defenders, began participating in shooting drills in late February. He averaged five points and 4.7 rebounds in 39 games in 2017-18.

Roberson has spent his entire career in Oklahoma City. He signed a three-year, $30 million extension with the team in July 2017.
