Alvin Ang is one of two Singaporeans who will appear on “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” when the show premieres on 18 March in Singapore.
Ang will compete alongside 15 other candidates in hopes of winning a one-year, US$250,000 contract to work directly under ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

Outside of the reality TV show, Ang founded the Singapore Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open, a competition for grapplers around Southeast Asia.
In doing so, he took a very different path than many of his compatriots. While citizens of the city-state are largely expected to pursue academics, Ang chose athletics – and the results led him to success.
ONE Championship’s knockout king, Amir Khan, is another Singaporean who took a route through athletics. The homegrown talent chose to become a mixed martial artist, and that decision has paid off well.
Those unique journeys led the ONE Championship athlete to praise Ang for his individuality.
“He is really driven, and I like that he is trying to make a name for himself and not taking the typical Singaporean path to success,” Khan said.
Before COVID-19 brought the combat sports world to a halt, Ang had built a solid business and was hosting events every three months, giving local grapplers a place to hone their skills and strut their wares.
But on ‘The Apprentice,’ he’ll find himself in a different kind of competition. Khan, backing his hometown boy, will be cheering him along.
“I think he’ll do great. I’ll be rooting for him,“ he said of Ang. "Can’t wait to watch and learn from him and the rest of the candidates.”
Watch the first episode of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” by tuning in to AXN on 18 March at 8:50 p.m. SGT or Mediacorp on 24 March at 11 p.m.
